If you are looking to stay at Disney World, it can be a bit overwhelming trying to pick what room to stay at and which resort. On our recent trip, my family of four stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House. We didn’t have a choice of our room, just a Savannah view and honestly, we were very disappointed in it for what we paid. While doing the research, people said that at night and in the morning was when you would see the most animals. Well, we didn’t really see animals any time of day from our balcony unless you were looking in the distance.
The pic below is what the view from our room was most of the time. As you can see, not an animal in sight at all. There was an area that they could go in, but they appeared to stay away from the rooms and back in a different area.
As you can see in the other picture below, we did see a giraffe once in a while from our room. That was only if you were looking down the way. I saw it near our room one time the entire seven-day trip. There were a few other animals near our room one time as well, but I don’t even know what they were honestly. Most of the time, you would have that blank view of just trees when you looked out the balcony window.
If you are staying at Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge Jambo House and hoping to see animals outside of your Savannah Room, it could happen, but don’t expect to see them at all times. It was a luxury that we paid extra for, but we didn’t feel like we received anything special from that room.
The balcony had two small chairs and a table. You could sit out there to drink your coffee or enjoy the view, but the issue was the lack of a view. Personally, we won’t be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge with a Savannah Room again. Another thing to remember is that you won’t be in your room that often while on a Disney vacation and if you are you will probably be sleeping.
One other small issue we had with this resort is that they only have buses as a travel option to the parks. We waited 30+ minutes on these buses several times and then had the long drive over. Other resorts offer several various modes of transportation such as the Skyliner, which is moving non-stop and can get you to the park possibly a bit faster.
Did you have a different experience with an Animal Kingdom Lodge Savannah Room? If so, please share in the comments. I have seen other people who really enjoyed the animals they saw and this is the reason we booked this room. Hopefully, others have had a better experience with their view than we did on our trip.
