Recently we took a trip to Destin, Florida. While there, we stayed at the Emerald Grande. It was booked through Air BNB. First off, when you stay there know that you are staying in a huge building that is next to Harbor Walk Village. That was one huge advantage of staying here.
Emerald Grande’s private beach
One thing about staying there is that you have access to their private beach. This is nice to have, but you can’t just walk out of your room and be on the beach. You go down to the Harbor Walk Village. Once you are there, there is a place to sign up to get on the boat. The boat comes back about every 30 minutes and will take you to the beach. They do have towels you can use on the boat and then you return them when you are done at the beach.
We enjoyed their beach area due to it being private. When you show up, you can also find your own beach chairs and umbrella to use. There is no extra cost for this like there is on some beaches. It can be a bit crowded, though.
One thing we didn’t love is that there is nowhere to buy a drink or food at their private beach. All beaches don’t have this, but with it being private we assumed that would be an option. The other issue was not being able to go straight to the beach anytime you want. It also closed early around 6 p.m. If you wanted to go to the beach at night, you had to find another one instead of using the one at Emerald Grande.
Staying at Emerald Grande
The room we stayed in at Emerald Grande in Destin, Florida was really nice with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It wasn’t crowded at all in the resort. There is a very large parking garage, which is great so that you can have your car covered in case of bad weather. The one issue we had was that it was difficult to find parking near the elevator we wanted. The parking was also very tight so don’t bring a large vehicle to Emerald Grande.
We loved the fact that we could order room service. The food was a bit higher-priced, but this is an option we wouldn’t have had at a normal Air BNB. We were grateful for this on days that we just didn’t want to go out and eat somewhere for every meal.
Emerald Grande has a spa, but we never got a chance to use it. We did call them, but they didn’t have availability right away for a massage. The resort also has a pool that is very nice. It is only about 3 feet deep, so you can’t really go for a dive, but it is fun to cool off in. There is a bar near the pool if you are looking to get a drink.
Another advantage of staying at Emerald Grande is that you can walk down and be at the Harbor Walk Village. If you are going to Destin, Florida, this is a place you won’t want to miss checking out. There are places to eat, shopping and even free concerts and events on certain nights.
We loved staying here, but next time we might choose somewhere with a beach right outside our door.
